Happy Earth Day!
It occurred to me, as a person of faith, that Earth Day should be rally day for all people of faith. Regardless if you believe the earth was created in 7 days and is 3000 years old or if you believe in evolution and that creation has progressed over billions of years, I would argue that all Christians believe that the earth is a gift from God. This beautiful earth was given to us by our Creator and it is our responsibility as stewards to take care of it. Regardless if you believe that the end is near or that this earth will continue on for another millenia, disregarding or taking advantage of God’s work is irresponsible. Regardless if you believe that the earth is warming up or if you think global warming is a hoax, misusing our resources and treating the earth like a garbage can is shameful and a slap in the face of the one who gave it to us.
I can think of nothing more selfish and egotistical than assuming we know better than the Creator how to care for His creation. I don’t pretend to be perfect when it comes to my carbon footprint but I’m trying to be aware of my actions. We’re making changes little by little and teaching our children how to be faithful caretakers at the same time.
So, who wants to join me? I’m putting my words into action. Dear Husband has been wanting to put up a rain barrel for over a year and this year will be our year! I’m taking a page from my grandparents and starting a compost bin. I’ll let you know if it turns into beautiful brown mulch or a stinky pile of banana peals.

Love this message! It’s so true- we all need to respect His Creation! Now I want to start a compost pile…
