April Showers Wreath

posted in: Crafty Lady | 7

I love wreaths. I love making wreaths and I love wreaths that come from places like Pier1.

At the end of March I pulled out my go-to spring time wreath adorned with butterflies and birds. The weather has been unusually nice this time of year so it seemed appropriate. Two years ago when I made this wreath it was super cute. 2011, not so much. It needs new butterflies.

A light bulb went off…I need an April Showers wreath. Off to Hobby Lobby I went.

You too can make this very easy, VERY inexpensive wreath for your door. Here’s what you need:

Straw wreath, keep the plastic on

Several packages of paper cocktail umbrellas

Just two of these little packages of umbrellas will not be enough.

Begin sticking the umbrellas in the wreath.

Keep going. The more the better. I don’t want to see any straw.

I think there are about 67 umbrellas here.

Now isn’t that cute?

Miss – I can’t believe how cute this is. When you mentioned to me while we were in Hobby Lobby I could not imagine it being so cute. You were right – it’s darling and inexpensive. Maybe there is a financial future in this!!

I cried at the sight of GaMa is that ridiculous hat. What were we thinking letting her wear this hat. Oh well, don’t let this happen to me. OKAY

[…] Did I mention I love wreaths?  Oh yeah, I did.  I ran across this crafty idea at a blog called Fellin’ Crafty.  I can’t believe I didn’t think of this myself.  I must give credit where credit is due and the gal at Fellin’ Crafty is one crafty lady.  Check her out for more yarn wreath ideas.  This is a seriously simple wreath that is seriously cheep to make.  However, it is more time consuming than my April Shower’s wreath.
