The gift of time

What do you get someone who is expecting their second baby boy? They already have little boy clothes coming out the wazoo and their house is an explosion of trains, cars, trucks and tools.

What do you get? The gift of time.

A wonderful friend of mine is expecting her second little boy next month. She has a c-section scheduled in early December and I’m sure she is starting to get into the “nesting” stage and could use a day to get things done. Through a serendipitous chain of events I found out about The Riley Group in Oklahoma City. The Riley Group offers personal and executive assistant, virtual assistant, concierge, and lifestyle management services. Concierge services?! How amazing would it be to have your own concierge? I imagine them walking my dog, picking up my dry cleaning and a bottle of wine for the dinner party they helped me plan. I would use them to schedule dinner reservations, opera tickets and personal shopping trips for me. I step out of my door and there is a black town car that they ordered waiting for me…oh wait, that’s Natalie Portman, not me. Still, having a personal assistant would be pretty bad ass. Imagine the work you could get done if you had someone to organize your home office, wrap your Christmas presents, pick up and make deliveries. Oh my gosh, I feel like a CEO just thinking about it. How great would it feel to get the closets organized, get rid of what you don’t need or wear and then have someone deliver it to Goodwill for you. They even have virtual assistants. That would be a blogger’s dream come true.

Back to my pregnant friend. When I told her about her gift of an assistant for the day she was pretty excited. She kept texting me with possible jobs she could have them do.

Do the grocery shopping?

No problem.

Start putting up Christmas decorations around the house?

Great idea!

Decorate the Christmas tree?

Yes! Pregnant women should stay off the step ladder.

Organize the home office that is on the verge of being on Hoarder’s Buried Alive?

Ummm…I think so, but that may take more than one day.

I think she’s pretty excited.

This would make not only an awesome gift for an expecting mother but a great Christmas gift for the person in your life who has everything. We all have someone like that (ahem…dad). You can find The Riley Group online, services are available in Oklahoma City, Norman and Dallas, (405) 889-4430,

How would you use a personal/professional assistant?

  1. Riley Group Recap | Hugs, Kisses and Snot

[…] Way back in November (geez, that sounds like ages ago, doesn’t it?) I wrote about a friend of mine who was expecting her second baby boy.  I’m happy to say that her precious bundle arrived and is squeezable and huggable and precious and when I got quality time with him my uterus started twitching.  Before he made his appearance, mamma was put on bed rest.  Thankfully, The Riley Group stepped in and was able to help out and give her the gift of time.
