Or, “I just want to share a bunch if Instagram pics”
The boys and I are out of town visiting my mom this week. I’m blogging from my phone and not a huge fan of it so I’ll have to keep this brief. I’ll just let the pictures tell the story and you can fill in the blanks.

It’s time to feel warm and cozy. This soup will do the trick.
Last week red bell peppers were on sale for 79 cents each. I can’t pass that up so I knew I had to take advantage of the good price and buy more than just one or two.
Here’s what you need:
5 red bell peppers
1 onion, roughly chopped
5 cloves garlic
2 cups new potatoes, quartered
32 oz. chicken broth
1 chicken bouillon cube
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 cup heavy cream
dash of paprika
salt & pepper
Roast the bell peppers by placing them under the broiler for about 15 minutes, turning them once. When parts of the skin start to turn black then they are done. Immediately but them in a paper sack or pastic bag and let them sit.
In the mean time saute (in a heavy pot or dutch oven) the onions, garlic and potatoes in a little bit of olive oil until onion start to become translucent. Season with s&p. Add wine and scrape the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon. Get all that nice brown stuff up and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add enough water to just cover, add the bouillon cube and make sure it dissolves and is incorporated. Let all the ingredients get to know each other at a low simmer.
While the veggies are taking a jacuzzi soak it’s time to peal the peppers. Because they have been sitting in the bag for 10 minutes or so the skin should easily peel right off. Discard the stem and as much of the seeds as possible. Rough chop and add to the pot. Add the chicken broth. Add more water if it looks like there isn’t enough liquid to cover everything really well.
Let it simmer for 30 minutes or so. Long enough to pick up some toys, check your email, read this blog and discover that new toys have replaced the other ones and been scattered around the living room.
After you have given up the toy clean up battle it’s time to blend the soup. Using a submersible blender (if you don’t have one of these I guess you could do it in batches in the regular blender but that sounds like a pain so I suggest you run out to Kohl’s or Target and get a submersible one) blend everything until smooth. Add the heavy cream, a dash of paprika, stir and you’re ready to enjoy.
I added half a package of ziti pasta (cooked al dente). If I add pasta to it I can call this a meal. With out pasta it’s just lunch or a first course.
In case you can’t tell, I love Instagram.

It’s been almost one entire week since I’ve posted anything. I have no idea if anybody has noticed my absence but for me it feels like a REALLY long time. I have missed it but my life for the past week has been a little…unusual. Recipes, crafts, wreaths, thoughts on my spiritual journey and spiritual thoughts regarding wreaths are getting back logged but there hasn’t been any time to chronicle all of it.
Anyhoo – if anybody out in bloggyland cares – I will be back at it soon.
Until then…Happy Halloween

I’m starting to think that “Wordless Wednesday” is just another way for me to post random pics of my cute boys.
Yes, I’m aware that we are in need of a haircut.
Opps, too many words…

If you live in Norman or any College Football Town, USA then this post will be a little “hoe-hum” for you as game day is nothing new.
Game day in a college town is an interesting beast. People sell parking spots in their front yard for $20 a pop. Traffic into the town slows to a crawl and major two lane streets running to and from the campus turn into one-way-if-you’re-not-going-to-the-game-you’re-an-idiot-for-driving-on-this-street streets. The stadium turns into the fifth most populated “city” in the state for the afternoon and the tailgaters are out in full force.
On Sunday we worship the Lord but on Saturday we worship the Sooners.
Two weeks ago I was able to secure a top notch babysitter and Dear Husband and I were finally able to make it out for game day. If there is anybody out there reading this and you don’t live in a college town, in the south, then I hope you enjoy this pictorial review of the insanity that is college football.
First…Campus Corner. It’s not actually campus, just across the street. A quaint little shopping district with boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Would someone tell that girl in the yellow shirt and trendy work out shorts that it’s game day? Jeez, get with the program.
Let’s move across the street to the campus. I think it’s fun to watch the band do their pre-game pep concert. This is not the band’s most flattering side. Sorry.
The drum line is always my favorite part. I think I like it the best because there is no way I would ever have enough coordination to play like that.
On to tailgating. This really intrigues me. I find it fascinating what people bring out to tailgate. We’re talking smokers, grills, flat screen TVs plus the dish needed to watch the game. You name it, they have it. Imagine the work it takes to haul this stuff from your house, set it all up then clean it up and leave the spot as clean as you found it.
This was my favorite thing I saw all day. Check out this fancy-shmacy grill. From what I can tell this guy has got a rack of ribs, porter house steak, filet, rib eye and/or t-bone and some sort of bacon wrapped shrimp k-bob. He is serious about his meat.
Step aside, here comes the Sooner Schooner. Looks like Boomer and Sooner got a mani/pedi just for the occasion. Must be nice.
On to the game. Our seats are pretty high but they could be higher and could be worse. There isn’t a row behind us, we have chair backs and leg room. We’re happy with them.
Time for some Instagram…
There’s only ONE…Oklahoma
