Book Review – Gregor The Overlander series

A while back I was talking with a friend about The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  She asked if I had read her series for younger readers, Gregor The Overlander.  No, I had not but I’m willing to give them a try. I like reading this type of stuff (besides the fact that I’m a closet science fiction nerd and kid at heart) because my kids may be reading it one day and I need to see if it’s any good plus I need to be on top of what they are/may be interested in.

Post Birthday Dinner

The day after Dear Husband’s birthday I made his birthday dinner.  We went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants on his actual b-day so he got two great meals in a row.  Lucky us!

Our menu:

Grilled pork tenderloin, roasted corn on the cob, watermelon w/ mint, green salad and apple pie.  Oh yum!

Is Church Overstimulated?

The following was published in our church’s’ weekly newsletter.  It is written by our head minister, David Spain.  I found it interesting and thought-provoking enough to post it here.

Play it again, Sam.

We have entered a new phase in movie watching at our house and it makes me a little sad.  I fear that the days of Disney and Pixar are behind my soon to be 1st grader.

Like most kids when Addison got a new DVD it was put into the player and became stuck on a loop and was played over and over and over and over…and over.  I think the first movie that happened with was Cars.  I didn’t mind it so much, it’s a good movie.  Owen Wilson has a pleasant voice, the jokes are witty so I could take it.

Happy Father’s Day

It’s Father’s Day.  The best thing I can think to post about my dad are pics I love of him.  If a picture paints a thousand words…

Happy Birthday/Father’s Day

In addition to it being Father’s Day it is also Dear Husband’s birthday.  There aren’t enough mushy words in the world for me to describe how much I love him.  He is a wonderful husband and an amazing daddy to our boys.  ‘Nuf said.

Turkey Burgers revisited

Turkey burgers sounded good again this week but I needed to add something different.  I did pineapple last week and it was too soon to repeat that.  I looked in the fridge and found a lone sweet potato.  Lightbulb.
